Professor Violet Parrish arrives in Lost Lake, Alaska, decked out in pink from head to toe with the goal of convincing Quinn Fortune, frontiersman and head of the community trust, that Lost Lake should sign a conservation agreement with her institute in Los Angeles. He agrees to let her make her pitch only if she can stay there for a month. Violet, who is desperate to redeem her reputation, thanks to a rotten ex named Stuart, who stole her research and spread lies about her, agrees to do so. What she is not prepared for is how she falls in love, not only with Lost Lake but also with Quinn (and vice versa), only to have Stuart show up and try to haul her back to LA. Violet, however, thanks to Alaska and Quinn, has become a new woman. Crane's start to her Fortunes of Lost Lake series is a charming romance featuring a delightfully brainy heroine who discovers, as she sees it, what her body is for, and who has a pet rabbit named Stanley. The next installment will star Quinn's irascible brother Bowie.
